The 1936 Winter Olympic Ski Jump Stadium

Apparently Garmisch and it's neighbor refused to become one town, hated each other really.  So Hitler sat the mayors of both towns down and said if you don't get this done you will be going to Dachau.  Turns out they were willing to work together.  The stadium is pretty much original but the jumps were replaced recently to conform with new standards.  They hold events here every winter.

Stone seats in the winter...comfy

There was practice going on while we were here, I was amazed, who knew you could ski jump in the summer!
