Neuschwanstein Castle
Something like only 1/3 of the castle is finished/furnished and we got to see part of it. It's relatively modern but Ludwig died young, it was never finished, and within a short time after his death it was opened to the public. The picture above was taken from a bridge above the castle, coming up the road to it is a little disappointing. I was expecting to see the post card side of it. But from above it was exactly what I was expecting.
Don't worry it's Fanta.
There was a sign for tickles, they had to be given.
A beautiful lake
with swans and cygnets in it.
Our first good view of the castle.
Hot, sweaty kids after a long hike up.
Who doesn't love a big tire?
Couldn't tell you why there is a tractor up there.
They were doing quite a bit of construction while we were there.
A friend we made while waiting for our tour.
Whadda
ya mean
we can't
take pictures?
That's right folks, no pictures inside. And let me say it was amazing, but the best part was his personal toilet. It was blue leather with brass tacks.
On a bridge above the castle.
It was good to be back in nature for a bit.
Ludwig II's parents castle, I think. We could have toured this one as well but one castle a day is about our limit.
