One Day in Morocco

Aaaand awayyy we go!

Dar-al-Makhzen

Still not used to the sun.
How am I the only person standing on the cannon to get a better picture?
"Fire at will!" Wait, that's not Will!
Dar-al-Makhzen the main royal residence.
How many uniforms can you spot?

The boulevard leading away from the residence.

A mosque within the same compound as the residence, but not part of the main building.

To Chella my good man!
Chella, Phoenician then Roman ruins, built over by a sultan who also put up the walls, for protection of course.

Morocco had as many cats as tourists. The girls were in heaven.
Our tour guide.  Very nice man even if he was a bit difficult to understand.

The actual ruins.

Not loving the attention

On our way to the Mausoleum of Muhammed V and the Hassan tower.

As close as Patrick will get to the horse.  With a big guy in between to protect him.
The Hassan tower. It doesn't lean, I do.
A great place to chase each other.

Aurelia trying to climb a pillar...she'd run and throw herself directly at it.  She was not successful.
Lincoln figured it out though.

Not a new continent for Patrick, but at least he got a new country out of it.
The entrance to the Muhammed V Mausoleum.
Looking down
Looking up
Now feel free to look side to side.

The mausoleum and the tower are part of the same compound.
Taking pictures in motion is a necessity on these tours, there is only so much time.

Let the chasing begin!

We use 1 camera and 2 phones to take pictures when we travel.  From time to time this happens.

Vacation with Ezio is a must.
On a fence across from our bus.  The family Young to be sure.
Stop Sign, I thought elf shoes, Patrick says 2 guys on a sled.

The Kasbah of the Udayas

Not the door we got to use, but we did get to go in.  There is still a city within.
This wall is too plain, wait let me put up some tiles...perfect.

One million dollars says they are looking at cat pictures.

Hot mint tea, a Moroccan tradition, it's very good.
This cat was here for the tea, and probably adoption
The way out was a lovely garden.

The cemeteries here are insane!
A funeral as we passed by.

Someone please feed these kids!

Thankfully it's lunch time.

Aggressive eating happened here.

So much happier!
We ate WAY too much, but we had no idea it was a 4 course meal.  I don't regret it.

TO THE BEACH!

The Atlantic Ocean.

Back to Casablanca

Rick's Cafe, for fans of the movie Casablanca.
A woman from our tour tried to go in...apparently there is a very long waiting list to actually enter the cafe.
Ezio was not impressed.

Hassan II Mosque
The 7th largest mosque in the world

The Library

Sunset is the perfect time to visit.
This bird was a great sport, he strutted his stuff so I could get the perfect picture.
I used to live on Bordeaux.

At the end of the day we headed downtown to do a pinch of shopping.  And really, who wouldn't expect to see this?
Giraffe's working hard as we head back to our ship.

Morocco was wonderful.  I wish we'd gotten to go to a traditional market.  But the tour that went to the Marrakech market was 8 hours on a bus.  So, no.
