It's nice to fall asleep in Austria and wake up in Italy.  We did a day tour of Italy with two stops.  The first had a wine tasting with not enough wine and the second had a frozen man.

Vipitino Italy
A very old church in Vipitino that our tour guide was a bit scared of.  It was very tiny but also very pretty.
I love to think about how old the writing on this wall is.
The church was all frescoes, except in areas where the plaster was damaged.  Then the wall was just white.

I love a good door and this one takes you into the old church.

3 world traveling kiddos.

A bit of a treat for the kids to share.  LY chewed the rind of the pineapple for a good 10 minutes before we figured out what he was trying to eat.

Bolzano Italy
Limestone Cathedral

Lunch in a 1000+ year old cellar.

Next time we travel we are going to have a backpack full of locks to put on bridges.

This just made me laugh.  Some sort of monument but you couldn't see past the traffic signs and the construction.

You can tell which communities are Catholic because there are crosses on the hills.  Priests travel up to the crosses every year, to protect the people in the valley below.

The family tour guide

Neptune-looks strangely like Poseidon.

This is the strangest bit of wall I'd ever seen.  It looks like someone took leftover bits from really pretty, architectural pieces and made them into a really messed up this thing.

Apparently my favorite Kansas tree is from Italy, they have huge heart shaped leaves and giant green bean seed pods.

We also got to see Otzi the ice man.  There was no picture taking in the entire museum.  But it was amazing how small he was, looks like a child.  It was even more amazing how much of his stuff survived.  Everything was separated, and described and showcased individually. I also like how part of the museum was dedicated to the technology used to give us information about Otzi, and the fact that newer tech has not only given better infromation on Otzi but has also changed what was known to be true previously.
 I LOVE science!
